OCO Orders on Binance, OKX, Bybit and Bitget: Setup and Fee Behaviour

One-cancels-the-other orders let you set a profit target and a stop on the same spot holding. How to place them on four major exchanges and which leg is usually charged maker or taker.

A common situation on spot markets: you hold a coin, you have a price where you would happily take profit and a lower price where you want out. Placing two separate orders does not work well, because both would try to use the same coins. The one-cancels-the-other order, usually shortened to OCO, solves this. When one leg fills, the other is cancelled automatically. All four major exchanges support it in some form, and the way each leg is charged is worth understanding before relying on it.

Where to find OCO on each platform

On Binance, the spot order panel offers OCO as a tab next to Limit and Market. OKX lists it under the advanced order types in spot trading. Bybit and Bitget include it among the conditional or advanced options on the spot panel, depending on app version. If you cannot see it, switch from the lite or simple interface to the full trading view.

Placing an OCO step by step

Choose the sell side. Enter the take profit limit price above the current market. Then enter the stop trigger price below the market and the limit price for the stop leg, slightly below the trigger so it can fill in a fast fall. Enter the quantity, which applies to both legs, and confirm. The order appears in open orders as a linked pair; check that both legs are listed.

How each leg is usually charged

The take profit leg is a resting limit order, so when it fills it typically pays the maker rate. The stop leg becomes a limit order once triggered, and if its price is already below the market at that moment it fills immediately and pays the taker rate. Check each exchange's fee page for your current maker and taker rates, and confirm the role of each fill in your trade history afterwards.

Pitfalls to avoid

Setting the stop limit too close to the trigger risks the stop not filling during a gap. Moving funds or placing another order on the same coins can cause the OCO to be rejected. Some exchanges limit OCO to certain pairs. Test with a small amount and watch both the trigger and the cancellation happen before trusting it with a full position.

Scenario checkpoint

  • Switch to the full trading view if the OCO option is missing from the simple interface.
  • Set the stop leg limit price a little below its trigger so it can fill in a fast fall.
  • Confirm both legs appear as a linked pair in open orders after placing the OCO.
  • Check in trade history whether each filled leg was charged as maker or taker.
